Will Work for Smoothies

Today I made Alli a Potty Chart to show her progress. Once she earns enough stars to fill up a row then she will earn a reward. I had her help me choose her rewards. I think she honed in on one reward though. She LOVES the smoothies at the new smoothie shop in Walmart. We try not to get them because they are expensive for the size, but man she loves them. As soon as I mentioned she could have that as a reward, that girl was begging me to go potty to earn a star. She went three times this afternoon/evening. We had to work on getting her to realize that going to the potty once doesn't mean a smoothie. She still needs to realize that she has to fill up an entire row, but the excitement is there and she is all about it. Now I need to quit buying diapers and get this girl some pull ups!

Progress in potty land..

Every night for about a month now we've made slow progress getting alli used to her potty chair. We have her sit on the potty while we read a couple books. She is always excited to read books and go "pee pee". The downside is she would always say mommy I got pee pee would never go. It appeared that in her mind just sitting there was enough.

Tonight was no different. We gave the kids baths and then Ben and I divided and conquered. I took Ethan to get in bed while he went to dry alli's hair. He didn't bother putting her diaper p. yet because she wanted to use her potty. So she sat In her towel while he dried her hair and then they went to her bedroom to pick out books. I was with Ethan and didnt hear but I guess she told Ben, "daddy I need to go pee pee" so he told her to go and believe it or not she went!! Finally she went on that potty! She was so excited! Now she wants to go on the big toilet and I couldn't be happier. Hopefully tomorrow will find her still excited!

Sleeping Free

Ethan's sleep sack has been such a life saver for us...until he learned how to roll to his belly! Yesterday he rolled to his belly numerous times and got stuck there. He just didn't know how to roll back so I had to roll him back over. We feared he would do this in his sleep and suffocate so we had to take the leap and let him sleep unswaddled. He did much better than expected and fell asleep within 45 minutes without too much fussing. He did wake once in the night and whined some but went back to sleep. I knew the real test was going to be his naps. He surprised me for his first nap and fell asleep really fast but this was right as the thunderstorm was moving in and we had some super loud thunder that woke him twice. After the second wake up we were done. The rest of his naps were down hill from there. Tonight at bedtime we had more of the rolling to his belly and I thought once his arms were free from the sleep sack that he would be able to get himself back and forth...yeah not so much. He rolled over twice and couldn't figure it out. I ended up having to rock him a bit to calm him down and he ended up falling asleep in my arms. uggh...I can't wait till he figures it out and sleeping is easier.

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you!

Alli had a wonderful birthday surrounded by so many who love her. She also just recently had her 3 year well child visit with the pediatrician. He said she looks great. She is around the 50% for her growth and weight. Thankfully after a year and a half of seriously picky eating, she is starting to branch out and eat new foods. She just recently started eating lettuce with ranch and I was able to also get her to try some raw spinach instead of lettuce and she liked it as well. Then we grilled shish kabobs last night and she happily eat grilled green peppers and zucchini!

Ethan on the other hand may eat us out of our home. Every time we eat or drink something he leans over or reaches out for it. I can already tell that once he is on real solids that he will tear it up!

Mr Personality

I love this little man's personality!

Ethan has really begun to like playing with the toys on his play mat. During dinner time he thinks his bib is like a toy and plays with it so much I'm lucky to get any food in his mouth. So frustrating!
